Kohama island sits 17.7 km from Ishigaki island and the 2001 NHK(TV) drama series Churasan was set on the island. Uhudake is the small mountain which is 99 m high above sea level and from on top of 245 stone stairs, it is one of the best location to see around Ishigaki, Taketomi, Kuro, Aragusuku, Iriomote Island.
